Tea Ceremony
in Ryurei style

"Ryurei” is a style of Japanese tea ceremony performed at a table and chair, rather than kneeling on tatami mats in the traditional seiza posture.
It was created in 1872 by Gengensai, the 11th grand master of the Urasenke school, to welcome foreign guests who were not used to sitting on the floor.
Despite the different posture, it follows the exact same aesthetic principles and spirit of hospitality (omotenashi) as traditional tea ceremonies.
