The owner of the Groupe Sakao inc., Reina Sakao, is the fourth generation of tea house in Japan who was born into a tea family. Her great-grandfather started exporting tea outside of Japan during the Meiji era. Since then, her family has dedicated to offering authentic Japanese green tea both in Japan and abroad. The Sakao family proudly continues to preserve their knowledge and exclusive methods of processing tea leaves for over a hundred years. In addition to importing a collection of tea, she distributes to various cafes, shops, restaurants and individual customers in Canada, Reina offersJapanese tea ceremonies, called cha-no-yu. She started practicing the tea ceremony with her grandmother at the age of 14 and is now a second level Urasenke instructor. Reina offers tea ceremonies at various festivals, corporate and private events in Canada and Mexico and she also offers a Matcha workshop. Loose tea products come from the Sakao family plantation located in Shizuoka and matcha products come directly from Kyoto.
